Head of Assembly (m/f/d)
The World of Seitz
Welcome to the fascinating world of high-pressure solenoid valves at SeitzValve!
SeitzValve, a leader in the development and production of valve technology for gaseous media in the medium and high-pressure range, opens the door to a fascinating world of innovative solutions. Our ambition to think bigger and more advanced drives us to make life more livable for the next generation. At SeitzValve, we rely on proactivity, responsibility, reliability, innovation, and joy to advance our work.
You will lead 20 employees across 2 levels, strategically realigning an assembly department in a global market leader – in a family-owned company that not only plans growth but implements it and gives ambitious leaders real space for development.
Your Tasks
The starting point is clear: Seitz is growing strongly, and the assembly must be prepared for the next growth stage. This is not an administrative task – you will strategically realign an entire area. You will take overall responsibility for the assembly department – with direct leadership of 2 team leaders, who in turn lead a total of around 20 employees in two assembly areas. You report directly to the COO. What specifically awaits you:
You will develop an assembly strategy (roadmap) in coordination with the corporate strategy and communicate it in a way that employees can identify with it – because the vision of the department is created together, not at a desk.
You will strengthen and further build lean competence in the team: You bring real experience – what projects you have led, what metrics you have influenced, what specifically improved.
You will develop your 2 team leaders into self-responsible leaders. The team leaders should carry the operational leadership; you will step out of day-to-day business and focus on strategy, empowerment, and change.
You will ensure flexibility – Seitz assembles batch sizes from 1 to several hundred, with highly fluctuating order peaks. Work time models, external employee pool, capacity planning: that is your responsibility.
You will support the expansion of the assembly location in Shanghai: assembly concepts, layout, lessons learned – in English, occasionally on-site. Travel share about 10%, sporadically.
You will work closely with R&D on prototypes and new assembly concepts, with purchasing, customer support, and logistics (order planning).
Your Profile
That's why you are the right person
We are looking for an experienced leader who knows how assembly works in reality – someone who not only leads teams but develops them, knows lean not just as a concept but has applied it, and shapes change rather than managing it. Formal education is a framework, not the decisive factor: What matters is what you have done and what has come out of it.
Leadership experience of at least 5 years in the assembly of an industrial company – you have led, developed, and delegated responsibility within a team.
Lean experience with proven successes in projects, metrics, and sustainable improvements of processes.
Technical basic training (polymechanic, production mechanic, electromechanic, etc.) with business management further education – or a university degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering with real production experience.
Leadership style with impact: You delegate responsibility, have already accompanied and implemented change – and know how to take employees along. Micromanagement is not your thing.
Very good English skills for collaboration with Shanghai and international customers are required.
Strong presentation skills and confidence in developing concepts and strategies yourself and presenting them convincingly to management as well as the entire team.
