Your tasks:
As a Professor for Spatial Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, you will strengthen the Institute of Geomatics in a strategically central area. The organization of the institute is based on collaboration, personal responsibility, and active participation. As part of the team, you will develop a visible, application-oriented profile in research and teaching. You will particularly shape the following areas:
Establishment and further development of the department "Spatial Data Science and Artificial Intelligence" at the interface of Geomatics, Computer Science, and Data Science
Development of methodological foundations in programming, geostatistics, as well as machine learning and deep learning and their application to questions in geomatics
Acquisition, management, and implementation of third-party funded projects (e.g., Innosuisse, SNSF, EU)
Establishment and leadership of your own research group as well as active publication activities
Designing and conducting courses at the bachelor's, master's, and continuing education levels
Further development of the curriculum and linking research and teaching
Co-designing innovative teaching formats (e.g., project-based and interdisciplinary learning)
Collaboration with adjacent fields such as geosensorics, photogrammetry, and geovisualization
Participation in the strategic further development of the institute and taking on leadership tasks
Your profile:
We are looking for an engaged, research-oriented personality with a strong implementation focus and a joy for interdisciplinary collaboration. You have solid knowledge in Spatial Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and bring experience in research, teaching, and practice. Ideally complemented by:
University degree with a doctorate or similar further education in a relevant field
Proven successes in the acquisition and management of research and/or service projects
Teaching experience as well as higher education didactic qualification or the willingness to acquire this in the first years of employment
Viable national and international network in geomatics (industry, administration, and/or research)
Integrative personality with high social competence and ability to cooperate
Very good German and English skills for secure communication in teaching, research, and collaboration
Applications may include a portfolio of relevant projects and publications (e.g., website, GitHub)
