The Zug University of Teacher Education (PH Zug) is an educational institution with around 600 students and 140 staff members, offering a personal atmosphere. As a locally anchored and internationally oriented university, it provides a comprehensive range of services in education, further training, services, consulting, as well as research and development. The institutional foresight is reflected on-site with views over mountains and Lake Zug.
For the newly established professorship for learning and social-emotional development, we are looking for a research associate starting June 1, 2026, or by arrangement. In this role, you will participate in research and development projects of the professorship and collaborate in the working group of Prof. Dr. J. Grütter.
The research focus of the working group is on how to promote the development of social-emotional competencies in the school environment and positively influence social dynamics in classrooms. The research is situated at the intersection of special education, empirical educational research, educational psychology, and developmental psychology. Work will be conducted in interdisciplinary research networks (basic and applied research) and in close collaboration with school practice.

Participation in research and development projects of the professorship
Collaboration on joint publications and conference contributions
Taking on tasks in the area of education and training as well as consulting
Conceptualization, application, and implementation of your own research projects in the content areas of the professorship
What you bring
University degree with a Master's or Doctorate in Psychology, Educational Sciences, Special Education, or a related discipline
Strong interest and enjoyment in research
Experience (preliminary work) with questions in the area of the professorship
Solid knowledge of quantitative research methods
Practical experience in managing empirical data and knowledge of Open Science approaches is an advantage
Experience in intervention research is an advantage
Very good English and German language skills
Enjoyment of interdisciplinary and intercultural work
High personal commitment and good communication and cooperation skills
Experience working with children and adolescents or in the school sector is an advantage
Teaching diploma and teaching experience is an advantage, ideally at the level of Cycle 1 and/or Cycle 2
Experience with teaching, further education, and consulting offers in the context of development, education, or in the school sector is an advantage
