The Synodal Council is the executive body of the Roman Catholic Corporation of the Canton of Zurich (Cantonal Church). Due to the retirement of the previous incumbent, we are looking for a

Head of Human Resources (100%)
This versatile management position includes the following

Main tasks:

  • Leadership and further development of the personnel department of the Synodal Council

  • Management of the small HR team

  • Ensuring the business processes of the personnel department and supporting the department head in personnel matters

  • Preparation, execution, and monitoring of decisions of the department as well as the Synodal Council and the Synod

  • Advising and supporting the General Vicariate, parishes, and service and specialist offices in state-church legal personnel matters

  • Drafting legislative proposals in labor law

  • Membership in the personnel commission and other commissions and bodies

  • Coordination of personnel development of the Catholic Church in the Canton of Zurich

  • Training in labor law

  • Preparation and controlling of the budget

  • Participation and assistance in the implementation of legislative priorities

  • Assistance to the Board of Trustees of the pension fund

Your profile:

  • University degree (preferably in law)

  • Further training as an HR specialist with a federal recognized professional certificate or equivalent education

  • Knowledge of public law, especially labor law

  • Several years of administrative and leadership experience

  • Experience with church structures (dual system)

  • Negotiation skills

  • Proficient use of modern communication tools

  • Fluent German language skills in spoken and written form

The progressive employment conditions are based on the employment regulations of the Roman Catholic Corporation of the Canton of Zurich, the workplace is located at Hirschengraben 72, near Zurich main station.
