School Management approx. 80%, Winterthur and Embrach

For our locations in Winterthur and Embrach, we are looking for a resilient and empathetic personality who takes responsibility and leads both locations with commitment, starting no later than the beginning of the 2026/27 school year, or earlier by arrangement.

YOUR TASKS

  • You lead the School for Hearing and Language at the Winterthur location (5 classes) and at the Embrach location (2-3 classes, focusing on ASS), and are responsible for it in personnel, pedagogical, financial, and organizational terms.

  • As an innovative personality, you are committed to the continuous development of the locations.

  • You manage the schools using the organizational form of "Sociocracy" and further develop this with the overall school management.

  • You lead teams consisting of teachers, social educators, sign language teachers, class assistants, and interns.

  • You collaborate with the overall school management and also take on cross-location tasks.

YOUR PROFILE

  • You have experience as a school leader.

  • You hold a certificate of school management training as well as a recognized university diploma in special education/school-based remedial education, or in social pedagogy with experience in a school setting.

  • You are a resilient, committed, flexible, and communicative personality with high social competence.

  • You are willing to work at both locations and to attend occasional meetings at the main location in Wollishofen.

  • You have knowledge in deaf and hard of hearing education or a strong willingness to deepen your expertise in this field.

  • You possess knowledge of Swiss German sign language or are willing to acquire it.

  • You are well-networked in the special education landscape and want to deepen this.

Sign language is a central element in communication and daily work for the entire center. Since 2001, sign language has been integrated into school instruction. We are committed to ensuring that the ZGSZ takes a pioneering role in the field of bimodal-bilingual teaching. Therefore, you will acquire a basic competence in sign language with us, regardless of function and area.

We employ around 230 staff members who work for over 850 children and adolescents with hearing and speech acquisition impairments in 8 departments. With comprehensive services for counseling, support, education, and therapy, we promote the personal development and identity formation of children and adolescents. The Center for Hearing and Language is located in a beautiful area in Zurich-Wollishofen and at other locations in Zurich, Winterthur, and Embrach. We have a history of over 200 years.
