Your tasks:
You actively shape the future of applied mathematics at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland. In this versatile professorship, you combine scientific competence with practice-oriented teaching and interdisciplinary research.

Your main responsibilities:

• Acquisition, management, and execution of projects in the field of applied mathematics, particularly Data Science and multiphysics simulation

• Training students in mathematics in various bachelor's programs in computer science and engineering (fundamental and advanced courses)

• Supervision of project, bachelor, and master theses

• Collaboration in interdisciplinary research projects within FHNW as well as with external partners

You contribute to ensuring that FHNW students experience mathematics as a key to innovation - understandable, application-oriented, and inspiring.

Your profile:

You are an engaged, team-oriented individual who enjoys teaching, research, and applied development.

You possess:

• a university degree in applied mathematics, statistics, physics, or a related field, ideally with a doctorate

• several years of industry experience in applied mathematics (e.g., computational engineering, data science, statistics, modeling)

• proven experience in acquiring, managing, and executing application-oriented research projects

• a viable network with partners from industry, research, and society

• the ability and willingness to build a small research team and establish research collaborations

• a pronounced pedagogical flair and the joy of conveying complex content in an understandable and practice-oriented manner

• a higher education didactic qualification or the willingness to acquire this in the first years
